"The Green Dragon is a charming pub dating back to the 18th Century, the owners have tastefully retained the feel of a traditional pub with dark wood and beamed walls. The high-backed benches in the bar allow for intimate dining, while a separate extension offers more open space for group meals, and the patio
provides stunning panoramic views of Hertfordshire countryside.

The menu here offers the best of British with the likes of steak and kidney pie, homemade burgers, plaice and chips, and traditional roast dinners on Sundays. Those wanting a taste of something a little further from home can enjoy more Continental meals such as confit duck leg, crayfish in lime coriander mayonnaise, or a risotto of roasted Mediterranean vegetables and Parmesan. All the meat used here is sourced from the Ginger Pig Farm in Yorkshire, which prides itself on rearing free-range, grass-fed cattle. The fillet steak that I enjoyed for my main course was succulent, tasty and cooked to perfection, and my partner’s roast pork loin was equally tender, with all the trimmings of a roast dinner and an original accompaniment of parsnip crisps. Starters are varied and imaginative, and include three vegetarian options. We sampled goat’s cheese served with sun-dried tomatoes and an asparagus and smoked bacon salad drizzled with raspberry vinaigrette, and a smoked mackerel mousse with red onion marmalade. All were delicious. Desserts include old favourites such as bread-and-butter pudding, but there are some more innovative concoctions too. We tried the strawberry and marshmallow skewers with chocolate dipping sauce (yummy) and the creme caramel, which offered the added delight of a toffee sauce. All puddings are freshly made in house, including the ice creams, and a whole range of coffees and liqueur coffees is available to round off an extremely good meal.

The Green Dragon presents a varied menu that is frequently changing. A selection of sandwiches is also available for those who just want a snack. Prices are very reasonable considering the quality, the staff are friendly and the service excellent. Give this place a try – you won’t be disappointed."
